BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The NCPA original production drama Wangfujing features a grand panoramic view and showcases the hundred-year vicissitudes of Wangfujing, China's No.1 commercial street. It vividly outlines the image and spirit of Beijing people and displays a rich and profound Beijing flavor.

NCPA is considered as an important cultural landmark of capital Beijing. There is no doubt the NCPA would produce a large-scale drama for Beijing people to showcase their profound spiritual characteristics and heroic national integrity. The impression of Beijingers has long been somewhat simple, biased and superficial, but in fact, these people living in the royal city are not only sincere and passionate, but have broad mind and great bearing, as well as value integrity and righteousness. The NCPA hopes that this drama can sketch out a spiritual portrait of Beijing people.

As 'China's No. 1 street', Wangfujing epitomizes the comings and goings for one century and conveys the rich spirit of Beijing people. The unusual golden street has naturally become an effective carrier of the drama. In the play, Wangfujing is not merely the old street in the real word, but a symbol of core values, which represents the spirit of Beijing people: hardworking, passionate, resilient, tolerant and optimistic!

SYNOPSIS
Wangfujing covers a time-span of 100 years from 1910 to 2010. Centering on the vicissitudes of Ludinghong, a hat store, the play reflects the past bitterness of Wangfujing, tells the ups and downs of Beijing and takes the audience to explore the history and walk close to the streets, people, stories and spirit of Beijing.
