BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Chu Yi-Bing is a professor of Orchestral Instruments Department of Central Conservatory of Music, director of Cello Teaching and Research Office, member of Chinese Musicians' Association, vice president of Chamber Music Society, guest principal cellist of China NCPA Orchestra, guest soloist of Chinese National Orchestra, and award winner at the 1986 Geneva Concours International d’Exécution Musicale.


He began to learn cello from his father Professor ZHU Yongning since the age of eight and his first solo record was released at the age of 13. At the age of 17, he was admitted by Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris and became the last disciple of French master Maurice Gendron and graduated with the Premier Prix, being the first one to win this honour at the highest European music schools since the founding of New China. He served as the principle cellist for Sinfonieorchester Basel (Symphony Orchestra Basel) - one of Europe's traditional large symphony orchestras - for 15 years. He was also a guest principle cellist of the prestigious Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra at the meantime. He studied conducting at the City of Basel Music Academy and conducted for German Munich, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Zurich and Prague and other symphony orchestras.


Chu Yi-Bing Cello Ensemble has performed for state leaders of China and countries around the world, toured in India, the Netherlands, Germany and the United States, and given public performances for more than 500 social authorities and colleges in dozens of cities in China. His published three albums include cello octet The Dream Journey, cello quartet Ave Maria, and The Bicentenary of Richard Wagner in honour of Wagner's 200th birthday. In February, 2016, Chu Yi-Bing created Super Cello, the first Full-Day Classic Music Festival in China.


In addition, he is also the theme song cello performer for films such as Hawthorn Tree Forever, The Flowers of War, and Coming Home and many TV series.
